Drawing at the Library

“Drawing at the Library” was designed to be an accessible and welcoming project for young people visiting the Teen Services Center at the Main Library in downtown Nashville. (October 2021 to January 2022)

Step One:

Visitors were invited to contribute ideas and co-create a large 5ft by 8ft drawing, temporarily mounted to a wall. We started out with a big vision board full of post-it note ideas, and several notes illustrated as mock-ups for the final piece.

Step Two:

Visitors vote on their favorite mock-ups, based on the ideas provided in step one.

Step 3:

The drawings with the most votes were adapted into a large final piece and displayed on the wall.

This is a drawing I made in cooperation with a coloring book project that promotes awareness of Nashville nonprofit organizations. My illustration is for Nashville Cares, whose mission is to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Middle Tennessee.

This is a painting I made for the “Thick as Thieves” podcast in 2019. The episode was about Marc Chagall’s painting of Othello and Desdemona.
